After a teen was arrested for raping a couple’s 7-month-old baby girl, the father told the court that he had forgiven the pedophile and would seek no further action against him. However, police had no idea the dad had much more sinister plans, taking something precious from the young man who had taken something precious from him.
In April 2014, 17-year-old Parminder Singh was arrested for brutally raping a couple’s infant daughter as the pair worked in a brick-kiln in Kotli Ablu, a village in India’s Punjab district, according to the Nigerian Bulletin. The mother reportedly caught the teen sexually abusing her daughter, causing him to flee. Devastated by the abuse their innocent child suffered, the parents awaited court justice for two years before the father decided Parminder would never receive the reprimand he deserved.
The father, who has not been identified, told the court in a hearing Tuesday that he had forgiven his daughter’s rapist and was willing to reach a compromise and put the incident behind him while Parminder awaited sentencing. However, this was all part of his plan to inflict the same suffering his baby endured.
The father offered Parminder a ride on his motorcycle from court back to their village, but instead, he drove Parminder to a secluded rural area and got off the bike. He allegedly beat the teen rapist to a pulp, tied him to a tree, and hacked off his hands with a machete.
The father of the raped infant hacked off Parminder’s hands, leaving him tortured and tied to a tree.
“HE (THE FATHER) TOOK HIM NEAR A DRIED UP CANAL, BEAT HIM UP BADLY AND THEN TIED HIM TO A TREE AND FINALLY HACKED HIS HANDS OFF. THERE IS NOTHING BELOW THE WRISTS NOW,” SWAPAN SHARMA, A POLICE OFFICER OF BATHINDA, TOLD AFP BY TELEPHONE. “LOCALS ALERTED THE POLICE AND WE RUSHED TO THE SPOT. WE PICKED HIM UP, HIS HANDS, AND TOOK HIM TO THE HOSPITAL.”
Thinking he had killed his daughter’s abuser, the father then casually left the scene. Locals heard Parminder’s screams, only to discover the tortured rapist still alive, tied to the tree and bleeding profusely, according to The Times Of India.
“A CASE UNDER ATTEMPT TO MURDER CHARGES HAS BEEN REGISTERED AGAINST THE FATHER OF THE GIRL AND EFFORTS ARE ON TO ARREST HIM,” BATHINDA SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE (INVESTIGATION) BIKRAMJIT SINGH SAID.
The father is currently wanted for attempted murder, but he is still on the run from police, India.com reports. Parminder also awaits trial for the rape that happened over two years ago, a case that may be pushed further back as he recovers from his severe injuries.
Some media have reported that the victim was an 8-month-old child, but it is believed that she was only 7 months old at the time of the abuse.
This type of gruesome justice is common in India, especially when it comes to rapists. In March 2015, an angry mob of 2,000 people broke into a prison that was holding the rapist of a female college student. The crowd stripped the man naked, beat him, and lynched him.
In 2004, a group of around 200 women hunted down a local rapist, hacking off his genitals and other body parts on the marble floor of the Nagpur district court. The women claimed that he had molested each one of them over the span of more than a decade.
Another father whose daughter was raped invited the abuser over for dinner one night. The man then attacked his teen daughter’s 45-year-old married rapist, brutally torturing him to death. The father told police that he burned the man’s genitals with heated tongs before strangling him to death.
While this type of mob justice is just as dangerous as it is gruesome, it’s difficult to blame the father of an abused child for wanting to inflict the same pain and anguish their daughter undeservedly underwent.
